Are you ready to challenge yourself?  The Mid-Atlantic Region is sponsoring a stitching challenge for all members!  It is entitled MAR Jar and involves stitching a top for a jar or even decorating the entire jar. You can use any type of jar just as long as the lid’s diameter does not exceed 5 inches.   Any technique, any threads, any material can be used.  Needlepoint or cross stitch a monogram or message, Chicken Scratch a gingham circle, center a Hardanger motif, create a miniature crazy quilt---it's up to you!  The completed jars are to be displayed at the Spring 2011 meeting.  Voting will take place then for:

· The crowd favorite

· The most unique use of materials

· The best use of a technique

·  Former RD vote

The prizes will be $25.00 MAR gift certificates that can be used for MAR classes or merchandise.

Judging will take place at the Spring 2011 meeting sponsored by Lehigh Valley Chapter.  Participants are responsible for getting their creations to and from the meeting. 

You can enter as many jars as you wish.

All proceeds from this event will benefit the MAR PriDe Scholarship Fund.  Each entry will cost $3.00 until January 31, 2011.  After that the cost will be $5.00 each.  To register you need to send a completed coupon provided in this MARN, a Web Site Release form (form #11 available to print at marega.org), and a check made out to MAR EGA to Leslie Gagliardi who is coordinating this event.

You can choose to donate one of your decorated jars to our Silent Auction to be held after the judging at the Mini Seminar.

Make it pretty, girls! You can even fill your jar with something exciting– cookie mixes, candy, embroidery supplies, bath salts, ornaments, whatever you can think of that will attract the HIGHEST BIDDERS!
